Minor children traveling alone or with only one of their parents or relatives require a notarized travel authorization and an apostilled Birth Certificate to prove their parents approve travel and to leave the country. Documents required for travel: Birth certificate with Hague apostille and a travel authorization for minors (notarized). Effective date: Immediate and ongoing. Who is affected: Minor children traveling alone or with only one of their parents or relatives. Background: Immigration officers granting travel authorization for minors will request a travel authorization form, signed by both parents, and their birth certificates, which must be apostilled to leave the country. Minors must travel with a passport and ID card. Analysis & Comments: While minor children traveling unaccompanied or with only one parent/relative always require travel authorization, this rule is especially important to remember during the holiday season.
