Argentina eases diploma authentication process for recent graduates

What is the change? Argentina has simplified the diploma authentication process for foreign nationals submitting immigration applications.

What does the change mean? Effective immediately, high school diplomas issued on or after Jan. 1, 2010 and university diplomas issued on or after Jan. 1, 2012 will no longer need to be legalized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Applicants still must have diplomas apostilled, but eliminating the legalization requirement should save applicants some time.

• Implementation time frame: Immediate and ongoing.
• Visas/permits affected: Any visa or permit application for which a diploma must be provided as supporting documentation, including consular residence visas or work permit applications to other countries.
• Who is affected: Foreign nationals submitting applications that require a diploma.
• Impact on processing times: The change will reduce end-to-end processing times by simplifying the process for authenticating diplomas for recent graduates.

BAL Analysis: Diplomas issued before the dates listed above still must be legalized and apostilled. For recent graduates, the change will ease the application process by removing the lengthy legalization process.
