Key Points: Italian nationals in need of a new passport should apply as soon as possible to avoid delays and complications. As of April 13, passport renewal appointments are not available at every passport office throughout the country; other offices are reporting delays of up to nine months. BAL Analysis: Italian authorities are seeing an increase in passport applications due to understaffing, Brexit and the lifting of COVID-19 travel restrictions around the world. Italian nationals intending to travel abroad and in need of a new passport should renew their passport as soon as possible to avoid delays and complications.
