Italy has instituted temporary border checks as a security measure ahead of the G7 summit in Taormina, which will be held May 26 and 27. What does the change mean? Border checks have been implemented at Italian points of entry. Travelers should carry proper identification and prepare for delays when entering Italy from now through May 30. Implementation time frame: Immediate and ongoing. Border checks are expected to remain in place through May 30. Who is affected: Anyone traveling to Italy this month, including Italian and other EU nationals. Impact on processing times: The changes may slow entry procedures.
