John Patrick Sherry

John is a Senior Associate in BAL’s Chicago office. He works on all aspects of employment-based immigration, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters for businesses in technology, financial services and manufacturing. John is experienced in numerous employment-based visa categories, including E-2, E-3, TN, H-1B, H-1B1, L-1 and O-1. He also reviews and finalizes I-140 immigrant worker petitions, I-130 family-based petitions, and adjustment of status and consular-based green cards.

Prior to BAL, John worked for more than nine years at several immigration firms across the United States and Canada, overseeing various teams of immigration associates and specialist clerks in high-volume, cross-border practices. Before joining the immigration field, he served as a corporate attorney and trade diplomat in the former Soviet Union.

John is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Outside of work, he enjoys a variety of interests, including bowling, bodybuilding, long-distance walking, political podcasts, horror movies, disco music and travel.
