The National Immigration Agency (NIA) in Taiwan announced a new online Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC), replacing paper-based arrival cards, effective Oct. 1, 2025. The new system streamlines traveler immigration clearance by electronically recording and retrieving TWAC data.

Key Points:

  • Foreign travelers must complete the TWAC form on the official TWAC website within three days before arrival.
  • The TWAC must be completed entirely online and is free of charge.
  • The TWAC is mandatory before immigration clearance and entry processing.
  • The TWAC applies to:
    • Foreign nationals entering Taiwan with a visitor visa or under Taiwan’s visa exemption program
    • Hong Kong and Macao residents holding a multiple-entry permit
    • Mainland Chinese residents holding a multiple-entry tourist permit
    • Taiwan nationals without household registration who do not hold a Resident Certificate
  • QR codes are posted at airline and seaport check-in counters for travelers to complete the TWAC form on-site.
