Immigration News Digital visa stamps with QR code to replace some manual stamps Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) November 30, 2018 IMPACT – LOW What is the change? Indonesia will be using digital stamps that include a QR (Quick Response) code for most entry visa and stay permit categories. What does the change mean? The new stamps are likely to be in the form of a sticker instead of a manual stamp and the QR code will be scanned upon entry. Implementation date: The change will be implemented 180 days from the date of the regulation, March 6, 2019. Business impact: Visa requirements and procedures have not changed, but travelers, employees and assignees should note that the digital stamps will replace the manual stamps currently used for stay permits, limited stay visas, visit visas, visas on arrival and APAC business travelers. Next steps: Foreign nationals should expect to be issued digital stamps instead of manual stamps for most visa categories. Among the categories that will continue to use manual stamps are entry stamps for holders of re-entry permits, service and diplomatic passports, all exit permits and deportation stamps, and all Indonesian citizens. Analysis & Comment: The switch to digital stamps will not affect travelers, but will allow Indonesian ministries to better track the entry of foreign nationals. Source: Deloitte LLP.
