Spending agreement ends hours-long shutdown Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) February 9, 2018 The House of Representatives and the Senate approved a bill early Friday to keep the federal government open for the next six weeks. President Donald Trump signed the legislation, and government functions continued their normal operation Friday after the government was shut down for about five hours after the midnight deadline. The spending measure will fund the federal government until March 23, including operations related to immigration. The bill does not include a legislative solution for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, however, which some Democrats had hoped to tie to Congressional spending plans. BAL has prepared an FAQ on how companies can prepare for the possible end to DACA, available here. This alert has been provided by the BAL U.S. Practice group.
