New government filing fees to take effect Jan. 1

What is the change? The Dutch government has published government filing fees for 2018 residence permit applications.

What does the change mean? Effective Jan. 1, government filing fees will increase slightly for applicants filing for first-time residence permits or renewals, including in the highly skilled migrant, intra-corporate transferee, orientation year and family member permit categories. 

• Implementation time frame: Jan. 1, 2018.
• Visas/permits affected: Residence permits, including highly skilled migrant, labor migrant, orientation year and family member permits.
• Who is affected: Employers sponsoring applicants in any of the above categories.
• Business impact: The business impact is minimal, though costs may increase slightly as a result of the new fees.

Background: Fees will increase by about 1.3 percent compared to 2017 levels. Fees for some key categories will be as follows:
