Immigration News - Japan COVID-19: Validities of certain certificates of eligibility extended Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) June 27, 2022 IMPACT – MEDIUM The Japanese government has extended the validity of certain COVID-19 certificates of eligibility (COEs). Key Points: COEs issued between Jan. 1, 2020, and April 30, 2022, are valid until Oct. 31, 2022. COEs issued between May 1, 2022, and July 31, 2022, are valid for six months from the date they were issued. COEs issued on or after Aug. 1, 2022, are valid for three months from the date they were issued. Additional Information: Foreign nationals intending to enter Japan through a work, general or specified visa must hold a valid COE. More information regarding Japan’s extension of certain COEs is available here. BAL Analysis: Japanese authorities extended the validities of certain COEs because many foreign nationals have not been able to enter the country due to COVID-19 entry restrictions.
