COVID-19 tests taken by travelers from India must come from recognized labs

Singapore recently announced entry testing and quarantine requirements for travelers from India.

Key Points:

• Under a recent change, COVID-19 test results must come from a recognized laboratory in India. Approved laboratories which process the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results must be internationally accredited or recognized by the Indian Government.
• The pre-departure test requirement applies to travelers who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents. All travelers from India who are allowed entry must also serve a 14-day Stay-Home Notice at a dedicated facility.
• Additionally. Travelers from India will be required to take a serology test during the 14-day period. Serological tests are tests that look for antibodies in blood samples. The presence of antibodies will indicate if a person had previously been infected with COVID-19.

Analysis & Comments: Employers should take note of the above entry testing requirements and ensure their employees traveling from India to Singapore are in compliance.
