Residence permit processing to resume

The Migration Directorate has announced that it will resume processing Istanbul-based residence permits.

Key Points:

• Applications cannot be filed in person and must, instead, be filed via local Turkish post or courier
• Residence permit applications that have an appointment from June 1 until Aug. 17 must be sent to the district migration location where the application was originally made.
• Below are the date ranges within which applications must be postmarked

Additional information: Residence permits began experiencing processing delays last October 2019.

Analysis & Comments: Although it is welcome news that applicants do not have to appear at crowded government offices, postal applications can be difficult to track, leading to processing delays.
