Kortney is a Partner in the Dallas office of Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP, serving corporate and individual clients in an array of business and family immigration matters. Additionally, Kortney represents companies in obtaining H-1B specialty occupation and O-1 extraordinary ability nonimmigrant visas for foreign nationals; transferring foreign personnel to start-up and established U.S. offices; securing TN classification for professionals seeking to enter the U.S. pursuant to NAFTA; and securing treaty trader/investor status for clients in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. She also serves employers seeking U.S. Department of Labor approval of applications for alien employment certification (PERM) and regularly executes  a full range of employment-based immigrant visas, including demonstrations of extraordinary ability. She has represented foreign nationals in the adjustment of status to lawful permanent residence and has counseled foreign nationals seeking consular processing of employment-based visas abroad. Kortney recently obtained successful U.S. Coast Guard exemptions from Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) manning requirements relating to vessels operating in the Gulf of Mexico.
