Meghan is a Staff Attorney in the San Francisco office of Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP. Her practice includes both nonimmigrant and immigrant business visa issues, as well as advising companies in immigration practice and policy concerns.
Prior to her work at BAL, Meghan worked as an immigration attorney with a law office specializing in asylum and removal defense litigation, where she focused on family-based petitions, naturalization and citizenship, and affirmative asylum applications. Through her passion for her work and ability to provide trauma-informed services to her clients, Meghan is able to address many situations that foreign nationals may experience with a high degree of professionalism and care.
While attending law school, Meghan was a legal intern and law clerk for a boutique immigration firm that focused on family-based petitions and international adoptions, and participated in cross-border community service to facilities in Mexico via the La Raza student association. Meghan served as a volunteer attorney with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program’s HIV/AIDS Legal Services Project, where she was awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services. Additionally, Meghan volunteers her time with the International Action Network for Gender Equity & Law (IANGEL), specifically focusing on the Teen Information Project to empower teens and promote reproductive health. She also volunteered and worked with the Disaster Responder Assets Network (DRAN) as an emergency resource coordinator for disaster responders during the 2017-2020 California fire seasons and as the Project Director for the COVID-19 Mental Health Project in 2020 for frontline responders and healthcare workers. She volunteers her time with various nonprofit organizations and groups that advocate for underserved and at-risk communities and wholeheartedly believes in embodying the changes she wishes to see in the world around her.
