Janice is a Staff Attorney in the San Francisco office of Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP. Her current practice includes both nonimmigrant and immigrant business visa issues, as well as advising companies in immigration practice and policy concerns.
Janice is proud of her family’s immigrant background and is grateful for the opportunities that the United States has afforded her family. She is also aware of the ongoing immigration challenges that our clients face and is committed to helping BAL meet those challenges to ensure the success of our clients.
Janice’s prior legal practice includes business and complex civil litigation, public entity representation and defense, contracts, land use, and education law. She has an extensive legal background representing clients in both the public and private sectors. Janice was a Deputy County Counsel with the Santa Clara County Counsel’s Office. As a deputy county counsel, she represented the county in matters including public entity defense, contracts, civil rights, employment discrimination, the protection of abused and neglected children, and personnel board hearings. She also represented the Santa Clara Valley Water District in matters involving contracts, water resources, land use, construction, and general advisory work. In addition to her public entity representation, Janice has represented private clients, including school administrators and corporations, in the areas of education law, business and complex civil litigation, tort defense, and land use.
Janice attended San Francisco State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in political science. She obtained her juris doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in the State of California and before the U.S. District Court, Northern and Eastern Districts of California and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, Janice is a member of the State Bar of California, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and Contra Costa County Bar Association.
