Under a just-released proposed regulation, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has proposed to significantly increase filing fees for immigration petitions, applications and benefit requests across the board. The proposal would increase USCIS fees by an overall weighted average of 40%. A companion State Department regulation will also increase government fees for visa applications and consular services. Every immigration professional should understand the proposed government fee increases and their impact on corporate immigration programs in the context of business goals and talent acquisition priorities.
